I've been making since I was 8 years old - except then it had no Grand Marnier. Here's the Recipe, Folks! Yield: 1 Cake 2 cup Flour 3/4 cup White sugar 1 1/2 tsp. Baking powder 1 tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp. Baking soda 1 cup Cut cranberries 1/2 cup Chopped walnuts 1 tsp. Grated orange peel 1 Beaten egg 3/4 cup Orange juice 2 Tbs. Salad oil Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in cranberries, nuts & orange peel. Combine eggs, orange juice, salad oil, stirring just till moistened. Bake in greased 9 1/2 x 5 x 3" pan in moderate oven 350 - 50 minutes or until done. What better way to relieve the stress of work than a spot of cooking! Here is the recipe ... Crumble 250g of your favourite biscuits and mix with 150g of currants. Next, melt half a pound of butter and melt together with a few spoonfuls of golden syrup and a spoonful of sugar. Then stir in two spoonfuls of cocoa and heat for about a minute. Next, mix with dry ingredients, and finish with a topping of melted chocolate. This then needs chilling for around three hours but not much longer as it would then be difficult to prise out of the tray. You then need to cut in to squares before returning to chill for two more hours in an airtight container. This usually makes around a dozen squares. Why not give it a try? This is a REPOST of my first cooking video where I responsed to samsarajade's sausage roll recipe. Due to technical difficulties, I had to close it out. I wanted to repost since I will be making a series of cooking video and I wanted this one included. Mine are a little different and have a southwestern twist. Recipe follows (of course, I quadruple it for a crowd): 1 pkg refrigerated crescent rolls (8 oz) 1/2 pound bulk sausage (I like Jimmy Dean) 2 stalks green onion, chopped thinly SW spice to taste (or use chili powder) handful shredded cheddar cheese egg wash Unroll dough on lightly floured surface pressing seams and perforations together (or as best possible - a few holes looks kinda cool). Add ingredients and roll up from long side; cut into 1/2 to 1 " slices; Place cut side up in ungreased baking pan, brush on eggwash and bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 16 mins or until golden brown. Active Time: 30 min Total Time: 4 hr Serves: 4 to 6 Step 1: Making the Brulée * 2 cup whipping cream (heavy cream) * 1 whole vanilla bean * 1 1/2 tsp. orange zest (or 2 tsp. orange liqueur) * 1/4 cup sugar * 6 whole egg yolks Preheat oven to 325°F. In a medium pot heat cream over medium low. Slice vanilla bean, scrape out seeds and add to cream along with the orange zest. Whisk everything together, and let come to a slight boil. In a separate bowl mix the egg yolks and sugar together. Then slowly whisk a little bit of the hot cream into the egg mixture. Whisk constantly while slowly adding in the remaining cream. Strain the mixture and pour into ramekins. Place ramekins into baine marie. Bake for 22-26 minutes, depending on size of ramekins. Once done, let cool and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Step 2: Finishing the Brulée * 6 tbsp. sugar Once you are ready to serve, sprinkle top of custard with sugar and caramelize the top. The best way to do this is to use a torch. Many people have one but don't have a manual and trying to get a manual usually involves sending someone on ebay money for a photocopy and hopefully not get ripped off. For the most part though, these were made to be a simple procedure, and when you are aware of what is supposed to happen it usually requires nothing more than the recipe and ingredients. Here we are making a homemade cake from scratch. It's not that hard as you will see. It's kind of like making bread. We call this cake a "Christmas Cake", but you can call it what you want. We call it this because the cake itself is flavored and colored. Icing on top of it is therefore optional. The cake is sweet enough as is, and you can find a bunch of icing recipes her on YouTube. This recipe is a small cake and makes 2 good sized servings. If you need more than that than simply double the recipe. Recipe: 1 cup flour 1/3 cup sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup milk 1/4 cup soft shortening such as butter 1 egg Into the wet ingredients you can place the flavors such as: anise flavor (1/8 teaspoon) almond flavor(1/8 teaspoon) lemon flavor (1/2 teaspoon) vanilla flavor (1 teaspoon real, or 1 tablespoon artificial) Opt: cinnamon (1/4 teaspoon) and ginger (1/4 teaspoon) A drop or two of food color can be used in the batter for a colored cake. For ex. 1 drop of red will give a pink cake, and 2 or 3 will give more of a red cake. [It is also possible to disolve the sugar and salt in the wet ingredients before mixing (..less)
